The River
Street Project is coming along, slowly.
Most of the work is done. We
still have to fill in along the back of the field, and are looking for another
1000 yards (or so) of fill. We have to
get that leveled off for a River Walk sidewalk that will follow the tree-line. We'll be picking rocks again in the spring, before the first cut.
Now, we have
to pay for the project. Cost of the work
done so far has exceeded $40,000. We've
had some fantastic contributions, and are excited and thank full to have so
many fine businesses and citizens participating in this project. If you would like to make a donation, please
feel free to call the club, e-mail, or simply send in a check (P.O. Box 114).

Ferris Coach Works With U11 Girls |
|
On Thursday, September 24th, Ferris State
University Women's Head Soccer coach Neathan Gibson ran practice for the
Northland United Soccer Clubs U-11 girls travel team. Gibson a former
professional soccer player, took time from his busy schedule to help the 2-0
U-11 girls. U-11 head coach Curt Ray along with assistant coach Don
Zimmer have been very pleased with the performance of their girls, but think
they need the finish touch of a professional. This is a great opportunity
for the girls and the club. To be 9 or 10 years old and have your
practice ran by a pro is a dream come true. The girls have two more game
in Grand Rapids, and finish the last four game at home.

Assume that games will played as
scheduled, unless the weather conditions are really bad (downpour, lightning,
or thunder). Look to the web for cancellation notices. If you don't
see one, go to the field. You can call your coach, but he probably won't
know any more than you do, and, hearing you're reluctance to get wet, he may be
tempted to cancel the game from home. Soccer games are played in the rain.
The kids usually enjoy it; the parents don't.
On occasion, games may be cancelled by the club and rescheduled for a
later date. Cancelled games will be played at the same scheduled time,
one week after the normal end of the season. If games are cancelled by
the NUSC, the cancellation will be posted on the web. Keep an eye on the
weather with NOAA Radar. Please read
